Amazon Banned My Book—But You Can Still Get a Copy

They can silence a book, but they can’t silence the community.

A few days ago, Amazon banned my book, Decoding GLP-1: A Guide for Friends and Family of Those On The Pen. No warning, no real explanation—just an email saying that my book, a book filled with real stories of real people living with obesity, was no longer allowed to be sold.

This book isn’t a medical how-to guide. It isn’t medical advice. It’s a lifeline, a collection of stories from people who have walked this path, who have fought through the stigma, the judgment, and the misinformation that society throws at us every day.

Amazon says these stories are “disappointing.”

But what’s truly disappointing is that even in 2025, people with obesity are still being erased. A billion-dollar corporation has decided that our experiences don’t deserve to be heard. A book designed to fight back against bias, to educate, to create understanding has been silenced at the push of a button.

But Amazon doesn’t get the final say.

40 Signed Copies Available – Pay What You Can

While I work on a long-term solution, I have 40 signed copies of my book, and I want them to go to the people who need them.

Instead of setting a price, I am making these available to anyone who makes a gift of any amount to On The Pen.

Whether you give $1 or $100, it doesn’t matter. If you support the mission, I will send you a signed copy.

After making a gift, email dave@onthepen.com your receipt or a screenshot along with a shipping address, and I’ll send you a signed copy while supplies last (lower 48 US states please).

This Is Bigger Than Just a Book

If Amazon can erase this, what else will they erase? If they can decide that our stories don’t deserve to be told, what’s stopping them from silencing the next person who speaks out?

This isn’t about money. It’s about making sure these voices are heard, these stories are shared, and no one on this journey feels alone.

If you believe in this mission, help me fight back. Get a copy, spread the word, and let Amazon know that we will not be erased.

My name is Fran Connor, and I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the work you do. I’m a 44-year-old former police officer from New Jersey who served for nearly 20 years before a serious car accident left me with multiple injuries. Over the past four years, I’ve struggled with chronic pain, depression, and significant weight gain due to a more sedentary lifestyle.

Before my accident, I had found a way to manage my weight, but after everything I went through, I knew I needed to make a change—not just for myself but also for my 14-year-old daughter, whom I’m raising as a single parent. I started by limiting carbohydrates and practicing intermittent fasting, but my weight…
